April School Holiday Programme 2026
School Holidays are just around the corner so be sure to check out what we are up to at Chill Out Masterton!
Our activities include: Go-Zone, Easter Scavenger Hunt, Fensham Reserve and Day Rave at The Lido plus so much more!
Programme Dates:
Tuesday 7th April – Friday 17th April. We are closed Good Monday (6th April)
Our programme consists of a mixture of inhouse and off-site days, we do our best to create a programme with different activities to keep the kids entertained.
Swimming:
We will be swimming regularly, please make sure children bring their togs and towels every day.
Programme Hours:
We are open from 8am - 5.45pm every day
Before Care is available from 6.45am-8am and includes breakfast. Children must be booked in and pay the additional charge. Any kids dropped off before 8am will be charged extra to cover costs.
Each day kids will need to bring:
- Morning tea, lunch and Afternoon tea
- Sunhat
- Togs and Towel
- Sun hat
- Water bottle
Cancellation Policy:
If your child is absent, 72 hours notice must be provided to receive a full refund. Absences on the day are CHARGED AT FULL PRICE. There will be NO refunds for cancelations on trip days due to the costs involved.
We are MSD Accredited and have OSCAR subsidies available – you could save up to 80% on your fees if not more.
Please drop your WINZ forms off ASAP to ensure these are filled out and your subsidy is processed on time.

Easter Scavenger Hunt
Ages 5-13 onlyJoin us for a fun Scavenger Hunt throughout the facility. Work with your team members to solve the clues and complete the challenges to find the hidden prize at the end. Team spot prizes will also be up for grabs!
Trip Day: Palmerston North Lido and Esplanade Park
Ages 5-13 onlyWe are off to Palmerston North today! We will be stopping at the Esplanade for morning tea and a play before heading over to the Palmy Pools for a Wave Rave Pool Party, especially designed for kids. Please make sure you have your togs and warm clothing for after swimming. Departure time is 9:30am
Nature Crafts & Skate Park
Ages 5-13 onlyTime to get crafty! We have a range of Nature themed crafts today, including bird feeders, planter pots and fun animal crafts. We are also heading to the skate park, please bring your scooters, skateboards or roller skates. Helmets are required, no bikes please.
DIY Games Day
Ages 5-13 onlyToday we are making our own games! From Giant Jenga to Mini marbles, Unleash your creativity and design a brand new game or make your own version of an existing one. A great day to challenge your friends to see who will win.
Masterchef and Crafts
Ages 5-13 onlyGet your chef hats out! We will be cooking up a storm in the kitchen today, Pizza with homemade bases is on the menu. Into the afternoon we will have a relaxing time with simple and fun crafts.
Fensham Reserve and Carterton Park
Ages 5-13 onlyCome along today for a walk through Fensham Reserve, this is a short and easy walk with amazing views of the Tararuas. We will have lunch in the picnic area before heading down to Carterton Park for a play!
Drive In Movies
Ages 5-13 onlyThe big screen is coming to Chill Out! We will be making vehicles out of cardbard boxes to set up for a day at the Drive In Movies. We will have popcorn and other iconic movie snacks.
Go-Zone and Swimming
Ages 5-13 onlyIt wouldn't be a school holidays without a trip to Go-Zone, join us for a morning of flips and tricks at the best indoor playground in the Wairarapa. There are tramps, ball pits, slides and so much more! In the afternoon we are back at the pools for a swim.
Device Day and QE Park
Ages 5-13 onlyBring along your devices and enjoy playing with your friends! Just a reminder that there is no wifi access for anyone. We are also taking a trip to Queen Elizabeth park to get out and get some fresh air. Activities will be available for kids without devices.
Depending on the activites the prices for each day are different. Our trip days cost more then our on site days. Please check each day for the cost.
A $40 deposit is also payable at time booking or your bookings will not be approved. Winz forms must be completed before the start of the programme (last day to bring forms is Monday 30th March) or your booking will not be approved.
Our day is from 8.00am - 5.45pm. There is no discount given if you pick up before 5.45pm - the charge is for the day, not hours.
We do offer care from 6.45am-8.00am but there is an additional cost for this and you will need to add the BEFORE CARE at time of booking on the days you require to drop off before 8.00am. Breakfast can be provided for kids that are booked in for BEFORE CARE.
We are WINZ and OSCAR approved. Please read the winz information below:
1) Check out the winz website regarding OSCAR (Out of school care) subsidies, there are certain criteria you must meet before applying. Click this link to take you to the page: how OSCAR subsidy works
- You must be working or studying to qualify for subsidy
- The amount you receive is directly related to
i. The number of children in your care
ii. Your income.
iii. Winz will pay a maximum of 20 hours/week at $6.52/hour and 50 hours/week for holiday care. Check out the rates here: oscar-subsidy-current.
Please do not assume that Winz will cover the full cost of care.
2) You will need to go into winz and collect the correct forms – you are applying for the OSCAR subsidy for Holiday care ( Holiday programme care)
3) Winz will give you a large pack – this pack needs to be completed by you, with all the required evidence attached
4) There is a form at the back which will include a OSCAR SUBSIDY DECLERATION form – this is the only form we require. We are required to complete this part and in order to do so will need a booking in the system- Chill Out Kids booking
5) You will need to return ALL the forms back to winz so they can process the application.
6) You should receive a letter or correspondence through your MyMSD account which will detail the outcome of your application. It should tell you if you have been successful or not, and if so, how much you are entitled to.
i. Sometimes they my require further details – you must ensure you submit these as soon as possible.
7) Depending on the amount you receive from winz will depend on if you will need to make top up payments to cover your care.
e.g. you book in for 5 x after school cares a week at $25.30/day. That’s $126.50/ week for care (19 hours $25.30/$6.52).
Winz have accessed that you are entitled to 15 hours of care or $97.80/ week based on your income.
You will need to set up a direct debit into our account for $28.70 / week to cover the difference.
Failure to; or a delay in completing the forms, supplying additional information or hand in the forms may result in your application missing the cut off date. If this happens you will be required to pay for the full cost of care.
Some people find it easier to pay smaller amounts into our account weekly to help cover additional costs in the holidays.
Due to the cost of travel and activities in the holidays, our weekly care cost is sometimes higher then the subsidy amount available.
You have the options here of not booking for every day, to help manage that cost. However if you need a full week of care and you know that the subsidy will not cover the full amount then smaller payments throughout the year can help manage this. We just apply those payments as account funds in to your Chill Out Account so you can use them against future programmes.
